Solid Hardwood Flooring
Solid Hardwood Flooring is any type of wood which is comprised of one piece of wood from top to bottom, regardless of width or length. It is nailed down to 3/4” exterior grade plywood. It can be used in any room in the house. It can either be pre-finished or unfinished.
Distressed and Hand Scraped
Distressed flooring is a heavy, artificial texture in which the floor has been scraped, scratched, or gouged to give it an antique look. Distressed flooring and hand scraped style hardwood flooring are the more popular styles of vintage hardwood flooring available today. These methods have the ability to add heritage, character and history to your home. Impress any guest with exceptional and unique distressed hardwood flooring.
Laminate flooring
Laminate flooring is a hard surface flooring, utilizing a fiberboard core and Melamine wear layer, that is available in blocks, planks, and squares and can be installed as individual units.
Engineered Flooring
Engineered flooring is made using a cross-ply veneer construction using 5-9 plies of hardwood veneer. This is the most stable construction of all wood floors that we know of on the market today. The finished wear layers of pre-finished hardwood floors are far superior to any finish that can be applied during the construction of your new home, or the remodel of your existing home. Factory applied finish coats are more resistant to abrasion, and will not show swirl marks, hairs, dust, and other imperfections often associated with "from scratch" hardwood flooring.
The advantage of engineered hardwood flooring versus laminate is that engineered wood can be sanded after scratches and dings develop. Two catches, though: 1) It cannot be sanded more than 1-3 times (depending on the thickness of the finish layer); we recommend that you have a qualified professional sand your engineered wood flooring. 2) It is very easy to damage your engineered wood floor, revealing the plywood underneath.
Engineered Hardwood Flooring is a practical alternative to solid hardwood flooring. Layers of plywood with a top layer of real wood allows engineered floors greater stability where moisture or heat pose problems for solid hardwood floors. Engineered floors can be installed below grade, directly over concrete with glue, nails or floating. The real top layer shows the beauty and natural characteristics of the wood species, while it allows for sanding and refinishing. Enrich any room with the warmth, character and aesthetic beauty of natural hardwood.
